Wayne Davis Concrete Co. was founded in 1971 by Wayne and Joyce Davis in Tallapoosa, Haralson County, Georgia, on the same site where it currently operates. The operation has grown steadily over the past several years, but is still managed using the same family business philosophy that has created 50+ successful years in business. In 1978, with the purchase of a Carrollton location and business growth, the operation was incorporated as a Georgia Corporation. In 1980, they purchased a small plant in Bremen, Haralson County, Georgia, which was later absorbed into the other plants. In 1987, we purchased an existing operation in Villa Rica, Carroll County, Georgia. This made the company’s third location.
In the spring of 1989, Wayne Davis passed away leaving his wife and children to operate the business. They are still currently involved in the daily operation of the company. Chris Davis is the CEO and Wade Davis is the Vice President of Quality Assurance, and Todd Davis is over Operations. Richard Davis, her nephew, is the President.
In April, 1990, the company opened its fourth plant in Hiram, Paulding County, Georgia. In 1993, the company renovated and installed a new batch plant in Tallapoosa, built a new corporate office building in Tallapoosa and built a new ready mix plant in Rockmart, Polk County, Georgia. The year was packed with growth and hard work as we prepared to meet the concrete needs of the West Georgia area.
During the next several years the company worked hard to manage the internal growth and continue to provide the highest quality of customer service and products that had made us successful. In November 1997, we acquired an existing operation in Douglasville, Douglas County, Georgia which brought us to six plants. In 1999, we relocated the plant to a new location inside the LaFarge Aggregate Quarry in Douglasville and installed a new ready mix batch plant.
In January, 1998, we purchased another concrete operation with plants in Cedartown, Polk County, Georgia and New Georgia, Paulding County, Georgia. We closed the Cedartown plant due to its age and location and we renovated the New Georgia plant to meet our customer needs in that area of Paulding County.
Today all of our plants are computerized from batching and dispatching to the billing of customer’s over our wide area computer network. We are the largest family owned ready mix producer based in the West Georgia area. We also market other concrete related products and services to our customers through our outside sales force. We can supply our customers with crushed stone, sand, block and related masonry products for their jobsites and construction projects.
Today, we currently operate 19 ready mix plants, a fleet of ready mix trucks and employ well trained personnel to service your needs.
We are proud of our success and look forward to continuing growth and expansion.
